On January 18th 2024,
Blanche Mildred Seaman (Darragh) of Lake
Killarney slipped peacefully into her
afterlife.
Born September 3 1929, she was the
daughter of the late Theodore and Edna (Furlong) Darragh of
Linden.
Blanche was raised on the family farm in
Linden and spent many years working the farm. She could be found in
the hay fields, yarding out firewood or hauling bags of grain. She had
a passion for horses, outdoors, and family. In the early years of
their marriage Norman and Blanche spent their lives traveling and
working around the Cabot Trail with their first 3 boys. Upon returning
to Lake Killarney they introduced another baby boy into the family.
Blanche worked outside the home at the Walter Horton Dental Lab in
Amherst, as well as market gardening for Lloyd Wood. She spent many
years baby sitting family and local children in the area. Blanche was
a loyal member and elder of the Renwick United Church, she could be
found providing transportation to and from Church, doctor appointments
and other events for local residents. She was a 50 time donor of blood
for the blood bank and could be found canvassing for the Kidney
Foundation. She was a member of both the Mansfield and Linden Hillside
Cemeteries. Blanche enjoyed bird watching and gardening. She could
often be found knitting or crocheting.
Blanche will be dearly missed by her
surviving family; Brother: James (Cheryl) Dixon of Linden. Sons: Brian
(Doreen) of Brookdale, Gene (Vicki) of Lake Killarney, Grandchildren;
Brian Todd Seaman of Boundry Creek NB, Andrea (Justin) Rushton of
Lower Greenville, Douglas (Patricia) Seaman of New Maryland NB, Glen
Seaman of Riverview NB, Kellie Seaman (Roderick) of Amherst,Tracey
(Chris) McEachern of Linden. Great-Grandchildren; Nathan and Grady
Rushton of Lower Greenville, Tanner and Gavin McEachern of Linden,
Jaiken Seaman of Boundry Creek NB, Hannah, Eda and Morgan Seaman of
New Maryland NB, along with many nieces and nephews.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband
of 40 years Norman, sons: Thomas and Wylie. Daughter-in-law Carolyn
(MacLeod) Seaman, great grand-daughter MacKenzie McEachern. Brothers;
Andrew "Andy", Wylie "Pat", James , Edward
Sisters: Ethel(Dixon), Wilna "Dolly"
(Black),Margaret(Rushton) and Elsie Alice, daughter-in-law Ruth
Tattrie.
Blanche’s family would like to
express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of the High-Crest
Nursing Home in Springhill for their care and compassion during her
stay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water St.,
Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) where visiting hours will take place Monday
January 22, 2024, from 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held from
the funeral home on Tuesday, January 23 at 11AM with K. Ruth Gamble,
DLM officiating. Burial to take place at the Mansfield Cemetery in the
spring.
