Hugh Lawrence Jeffers, 84 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016. Born in Oxford, he was a son of the late Seymour & Lilly Amy (Tingley) Jeffers.

Hugh was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grand father. At the age of 8 Hugh started his first job by loading his little cart with his belongings and pulling the cart up the road from his home on Handel St. to his new home on McCormack St. At the age of 18, Hugh started in the lumbering business for Charles Cloney. He went on to work at the foundry and the Oxford Desk Company with his Father. He then worked for Gordon's Greenhouse Ltd. for 20+ years. Upon his retirement, Hugh enjoyed farming, taking care of horses and cows. Hugh was a kind gentle soul who spent his life being a hard worker, provider and a good neighbor.

He will be sadly missed by his sons, Marcus (Velma), John (Gladys), Paul, Wesley & Timothy; daughters, Ramona Greenan (Brian), Deborah Everitt (Ronald) , Kathryn, Susan Fraser (Bruce), Trina & Amanda; brothers Neil and Arnold (Della); sister, Ruth Halliday; 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Carol Mildred (Stone) Jeffers, sister Frances Fillmore and infant daughter, Lillian.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) from where a time of visitation will be held  on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home  on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 2 p.m. Burial to take place in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford, N.S.
