It is with heavy hearts that we announce
the passing of Daniel Allison McDonald,
age 81, of Folly Mountain, Nova Scotia. Dan passed away peacefully on
Monday, January 27, 2025, at the Colchester East Hants Care Center in
Truro.
Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, Dan was
the son of the late Sydney and Lila (Miller) McDonald.
A devoted husband, father, and
grandfather, Dan was known for his strong work ethic and passion for
life. He began his career as a machinist and tool and die maker, but
his love for travel led him to become a truck driver, a job that took
him across the United States and Canada.
Dan will be deeply missed by his
children: Annette McDonald (Toronto, ON), Debbie (Tony) Smith
(Lornevale, NS), Teresa (Rob) White (Edmonton, AB), along with his
eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sister Eleanor, and
his companion of the last four years, Flora Watson.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife
Carolyn, his daughter Susan McDonald, and his siblings: sisters Grace
and Marion, and brothers Art and Jim.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care
of W. Allen Funeral Home, Oxford, NS
(902) 447-2167. In keeping with Dan’s wishes, cremation has
taken place, and a service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00
p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the W. Allen Funeral Home,
Oxford.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly
requests that donations be made to the Cancer Society.
